Eye protection
When I had my eye operation last year, there was relatively little clinical fuss on the day, before the procedure. I was wearing my normal clothes, although we were advised to avoid wearing wool. I wore no makeup, of course, as this would be a bad idea. In fact makeup was banned for several days afterwards as well – awful! A cotton blanket was put over me after I got on to the operating trolley, and I wore a plastic hat to keep my hair away from the operating area. The surgeon and assisting staff wore brightly coloured clothing, including burnt orange scrubs. These created a cheerful atmosphere, and helped me to relax a little. Apparently these are supplied online from http://www.blueskyscrubs.com/categories/Scrubs/Scrubs-for-Women/Original-Scrubs/, which is a cost effective way to equip the staff with sterile operating clothing.
