Over here there have been some stories in the news about the rising cost of motor insurance, and I am not looking forward to getting my renewal notice this year. One of the causes of higher premiums is the bill for repairs and third party claims, and this has been accelerated by fact that the insurers are doing repairs in their own workshops. This enables them to charge more to the third party than the going rate for the job, and that is not fair. Today I was looking at a website for Car Insurance Australia, where you are allowed to choose your own repairer. I think that is a positive aspect and it gives the policyholder some control over the process.  The company is called The Buzz and they also have cover for windscreens with no excess.  You can get a quote and sign up online, and they offer cover for all kinds of private cars with a few exceptions.  If you have a Ferrari, for example, this is not the company for you.  But I think owners of these luxury cars won’t worrry how much they pay – unlike me.
